A typewritten letter addressed to Ron Richardson from Jean Batten, typewritten proposed itineraries for Jean Batten's to New Zealand in 1977, and a typewritten proposed format for the opening ceremony of the Pioneers of New Zealand Aviation Pavilion. 1.The letter, dated 12 March, 19977, includes departure dates for the flight from Tenerife, Canary Islands to Auckland, New Zealand via London and Hong Kong; Batten ordering 100 of the 'J.B. Covers' (first day covers) to collect from Hendon [aerodrome]; obtaining photocopies of documents from the 'Jean Batten Archive' at the RAF Museum; a thank you for payment for the first day covers; accepting an offer to be hosted by the Mt. Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company in Queenstown; request for accommodation in Auckland and accepting hospitality of Richardson and wife; agreeing to give a talk at Richardson's Rotary Club on the 5 April; and a luncheon on the 7 April as per a telegram sent by Mr Dawson. 2. Proposed itinerary for Jean Batten visit from 31 March, 1977 to 19 April, 1977. Includes brief details for appointments for a range of events. Places for planned travelled are Auckland, Rotorua, Queenstown, Milford Sound, Mount Cook/Aoraki, Christchurch, Greymouth, Hokitika, Bay of Islands and Hamilton. All accommodation listed. 3. Second itinerary most likely an earlier iteration of the one attached to Batten's letter with less detail. 4. Proposed format for opening ceremony of the Pioneers of New Zealand Aviation Pavilion held on 2 April, 1977. Includes list of official party: Jean Batten, Mayor Sir Dove-Myer Robinson, Minister of Transport for the Hon. Mr McLachlan, Air Marshal Richard Bolt, Sir Geoffrey Roberts and Master of Ceremonies Eric Salmon. Other details include special veteran pioneer aviator guests, special guests in the Hall of Fame, representatives from principal donors, a format for the ceremony and a note on emergency procedures should Jean Batten not be able to officiate the ceremony.
