Major Lester D. Gardiner (Executive Vice President of The Institute of Aeronautical Sciences) presenting the Musick Memorial Trophy to Mr Robert J. Marshall (Vice President Engineering, Boeing Aircraft Company) at a dinner sponsored by the Institute and the Seattle Chamber of Commerce. The trophy was awarded on 21 June 1940 for "the most valuable contribution to safety of life in the air, with special regard to trans-oceanic flying.
