Description
Motorola Micro T.A.C. 1500, analogue mobile telephone. Grey plastic body, black window surround. Earphone at top of face. Hinged at bottom of case, flap opens to expose key pad. Access to rechargeable battery on back.
Brief History
The first MicroTAC model, the 9800X, was launched by Motorola in April 1989. At the time, the phone was significantly smaller than other mobile phones on the market, with the mouthpiece and ringer housed in a section that folded over the keypad. Variations on the design were manufactured until 1998, and this 1500 model appears to be a version for the analogue Australasian market, launched in 1995. It retains some features, such as the red LED display, from the original model.
