Description
Solid steel mould used to make the last bricks made by the Monier Brick Factory in Auckland NZ before it closed in July 2015. Stamped with "Monier Bricks / 1989-2015" and the Monier cat logo (center). The bricks were made using Port Waikato Clay, Woodlill sand, Kopuku 5 Clay and Clevedon Clay. Monier Bricks moved into the former Crown Potteries factory in 1989 and was one of the last brick factories to close in the New Lynn region, an area which was previously the center of the pottery and brick making industry in Auckland.
