Sunglasses: Pair of aviator sunglasses, green tinted lenses, tortoiseshell detail at centre of frame, nosepieces are peach coloured, curved wire earpieces.
Case: Brown leather case with metal dome closure in centre of flap. Felt lining inside.
Sunglasses believed to have originally been owned by one of the Dambusters Squadron.
Brief History
Pair of aviator sunglasses with green tinted lenses and tortoiseshell detail at centre of frame and curved wire earpieces. Made by Bausch & Lomb, Rochester NY. This item was donated to MOTAT by the family of a former Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) servicewoman who was given them by a crew member of the Dambuster Squadron as she drove him out to his aircraft during WWII.
