Graveyard headstone of Fredrick Edward Maning, known to Colonial fame as the author of Old New Zealand. Headstone situated at Symonds Street Cemetery, Grafton, Auckland (Historic Place Category 1 ). Frederick [variant spelling] Maning (1811–1883) was the author of thirty titles, including Old New Zealand: Being Incidents of Native Customs and Character in the Old Times by A Pakeha Maori, also known as: Old New Zealand: A Tale of the Good Old Times, By A Pakeha Maori; Old New Zealand: A Tale of the Good Old Times; Old New Zealand.
