The ADL class units arrived in NZ in 1993. I think this an early photo as there is no branding. The white rectangle inset into red warning panel is where "Transperth" has been painted over, but "Cityrail" (their initial branding in NZ) is yet to be applied.

This is not the Silver Fern railcar. This is one of the early ADL class suburban diesel multiple units prior to being refurbished in the mid-2000s.
