The caption should read "Opua-Kawakawa line" as that's the crossing on Paihia Road near Taumarere, looking back towards Kawakawa. The little St Andrew's Church at 330 Paihia Road, Taumarere, is just around the corner. The crossing has been somewhat modified, and placement of poles changed slightly, since the posted image was taken in the mid-1980s. There is no corresponding road/rail layout on the line that ran west of Kawakawa to Otiria.
