Brief History
Fifty one of the 'P' 2 series wagons were constructed by New Zealand Railways between 1912 and 1922. The Waro to Whangarei, P hopper wagons were used for transporting coal and, in more recent times, limestone to Portland Cement Works. The three P hoppers in the MOTAT Collection were part of a set fitted to the deck of a 4 wheel flat-top wagon.
