Description
A wooden hopper from a P class wagon. Rectangular box with one of the short sides angled outward at the top. Metal framing holds the wooden planks. Various brackets to attach crane for moving.
Brief History
Waro to Whangarei 'P' wagons were used for transporting coal and, in more recent times, limestone to Portland Cement Works. Three hoppers in the MOTAT Collection are all that remain of this system. The three P hoppers in the MOTAT Collection were part of a set fitted to the deck of a 4 wheel flat-top wagon.
