Brief History
Wagon KP 3347 was built in 1960s and was one of the batch of 500 wagons built in Yugoslavia between 1960 and 1961. It later became KP 26027 (Traffic Monitoring System number). They were designated class KP 1 and were constructed as a covered goods wagon with all steel body and wooden floors. Commonly known as a box wagon, they were originally all allocated to the North Island. This is an example of a common wagon in the later years of the New Zealand Government Railways. This type of rolling stock, being a 4-wheeled vehicle, are no longer in use by the railways. This wagon is currently operated by the Western Springs Railway.
