Brief History
Rail wagon La 24481 is a 4-wheeled, steel, highside wagon of the La 8 type and is one of 4277 wagons of this type built between 1943 and 1952 by New Zealand Railways. This type of wagon was used for general purpose freight such as coal, timber, and fertiliser. This particular wagon has been fitted with "Lc" corrugated ends and still has its ridge pole which would have been fitted to support a tarpaulin.
