Description
Tapping machine used in shoe making. Cast metal machine set into wooden table with metal legs. Electric motor and belt below. Red plaque affixed to left side of machine. Maker's plate affixed to back of machine. Machine sits off-centre on wooden table.
Brief History
This machine was used in the manufacture of children’s shoes by J M Alexander Shoes, Auckland, in the 1960s. The machine was attached to a large kauri work bench and powered by a central generator.
