Five shearers on stage at the first Golden Shears Championships held in Masterton in March 1961. Contestants being viewed from behind and above by observers/officials. Fleeces being collected from below the stage. Extensive signage incl above- "Golden Shears Promoted by "Wairarapa Federated Farmers", "Sponsors Borthwicks : Caltex : T V L". "The Golden Shears Committee chose Wolsely Machines for these champions". "Masterton Golden Shears Championship 1961". Bales at front ready to be filled.
