Description

Six shearers on stage at the first Golden Shears Championships held in Masterton in March 1961. Contestants being viewed from behind and above by observers/officials. Sweeper on floor with shearers and fleeces being collected from below the stage. Extensive signage Incl above- "Golden Shears Promoted by "Wairarapa Federated Farmers", "Sponsors Borthwicks : Caltex : T V L". "The Golden Shears Committee chose Wolsely Machines for these champions". "Masterton Golden Shears Championship 1961". Below- Wolseley Dalgety.
