Description
A wooden-handled ice axe with a metal pick 190 mm in length at one end attached to a scrapper 80 mm long. The opposite end has a 60 mm long spike. Engraved on the pick is: "Francois Simond et Fils, Chamonix, Mont Blanc", "Simond Special" and "B". There is also a logo which is difficult to read. On the opposite side of the pick is engraved "Robert Lawrie Ltd., Made in France". The signature of Peter Mulgrew is also etched on the pick, "P.D. Mulgrew".
