Description
A trophy established in the memory of aviator, Captain Edwin Musick, who perished on flight from Pago Pago in 1938. In 1938 public subscriptions were raised to fund this trophy, which would be awarded for contributions to air safety. The trophy was last awarded in 1957. Between 1967 and 1975 it was displayed at New York Kennedy Airport, and from 1975 until 2011, displayed at the Auckland International Airport.
The trophy is silver with a wooden base. Hallmarks are visible.

Brief History
This trophy is dedicated to Captain Edwin C. Musick and the crew of the Pan-American Samoan Clipper, which disappeared over the Pacific Ocean on 12 January 1938. The trophy was made in Auckland by esteemed silversmiths, Walker & Hall, and has been awarded to people who made a positive contribution to aviation safety.
