Description
Lycoming R-680 9-cylinder radial engine crankcase.
This stripped-down crankcase reveals the inner workings of a radial engine. The nine connecting rods, which would each attach to a piston, are all moved by the off-centre cam mechanism. Lycoming R-680 radial engines powered a variety of aircraft through the 1930s and 40s including the popular Stinson Reliant.
Crankcase is mounted on a display stand. Painted blue, black and grey.
