"Basic I.C.A.O. documents referred to in this manual have been distributed to all Departmental personnel concerned, and to the operations section of airline companies. The principle has been recognised that until I.C.A.O. is able to take over the task, this Manual will have to meet the needs of all aircrew and ground personnel. In order to avoid the necessity, however, for aircrew to carry a number of I.C.A.O. documents in flight, these sections of the appropriate documents which are vital to the conduct of flight, have been reproduced in this manual. Sections of the I.C.A.O. documents which are well known to pilots (eg Aerodrome Control procedures) have been cross-referenced in this manual to their I.C.A.O. source. For convenience, a complete list of such documents appears in Section VII." - foreword
