Description
"This poem grew from a particular feeling about New Zealand life and the position of the family founded on duty and work, the dark twins of colonial life... Mostly, it's a poem of waste, of a family that is both unique and typical. In my research for this poem I have included much that is factual and some things that are not... Much of the poem was written out of discussions with my mother, May Langford, and it is to her that this volume is dedicated with great affection and love." - foreword.
