"this air pilot manual was prepared primarily for the purpose of providing the pilot and navigator with basic information necessary for air movements within that portion of the pacific area now under allied control or within operational range... in order to accomplish this purpose, photographs, sketches, diagrams, maps and illustrations have been used wherever possible, in order to portray graphically the geographic and aeronautical relationship existing in the Pacific area." - preface
