Left "Opening up the New Zealand aerial trunk line - The De Haviland aeroplane which Mssrs W. H. P. Fleming, J. C. Mercer (pilot), and Mr R. L. Wrigley (reading fromleft to right), marked a new epoch in aviation in New Zealand by flying from Invercargill to Auckland in nine hours and a few odd minutes." Right "Caught by the Labout Day Southerly storm in Wellington" Messrs Walsh Bros. flying boat a bout to be craned out of the water after being capsized by a sudden squall as she lay moored near the Wellington wharves during the storm on Labout Day.
