Music box, serial no.12650, 8 tune bells drum visible. The unit consists of a large wooden box with a hinged lid. The lid is inlaid with a leaf pattern in the centre. Inside is a large cylinder with tiny projections on it. These projections make contact with long flat metal rods. A drum with 6 tiny rods beating against it is also accompanied by 4 bells. The whole system works in unison through a series of gears and toothed wheels to produce an instrumental sound.
