Description
A varnished wooden 'Bristol Propeller'. The centre of hub is painted green and black. Three metal clasps and eyelet hook on back, likely added for display reasons. Inscribed at the hub with '80 HP GNOME SCOUT'. The British and Colonial Aeroplane Company (founded in 1910) became the Bristol Aeroplane Company in 1920. The Bristol Scout was a fast, single seat, rotary-engined biplane originally intended as a civilian racing aircraft but acquired by the RFC for reconnaissance.
