Description
This is a G-type Flying Helmet with H-type mask. The G-type also served as the inner helmet for the Mk 1 and 1A flying helmets and, in combination with the P-type mask, could still be seen in front line use (Phantoms, Lightnings and Vulcans) during the early 1980s. The helmet is made up of grey cloth and padded earpieces, each fitted with a small earphone. Each microphone is black and round with 7 holes for the sound. An insulated cable emerges from the bottom centre of the helmet and terminates in a single pin jack. On the outer side of the left ear cover, a black cable emerges and enters the green rubber face mask. The mask has an ON/OFF switch on the front. Below is a threaded opening for an oxygen tube to be fitted. The outer parts of the helmet are fitted with studs which probably match up with buttons from a protective helmet.
