These plate Motorman and Conductor badges were introduced when A.E. Ford became the General Manager of the Auckland City Corporation Tramways to easily identify crews for Inspectors and passenger complaints. They were in use from the 1920s through until the early 1950s when replaced by the ATB monogram as team crews converted to buses.
