Description
A trophy in the shape of a shield made of bronze. The Rothermere Shield is associated with the Royal Air Force Small Arms Association. On top is a crown with an eagle with outspread wings. Below that is a pair of crossed rifles. Another shield has been stuck on the main shield. This smaller shield depicts 3 men - one is standing and firing a revolver, the second man is kneeling and firing a rifle and the third man is lying prone and also firing a rifle. Below this shield is a banner with the words: "The Rothermere Shield" embossed on it. The shield is fixed to its wooden base with 5 small nuts. At the back is a small hanging arrangement comprising a flat bar screwed into the wood with 2 screws and a wire twisted to form a loop which can be hung.
