Maker and Role
On the top of the slide rule are 3 parallel scales. While the ones on the sides are fixed, the one in the centre slides up and down between the 2 fixed ones to calibrate different measurements, etc. In addition to these 3 scales, there is a smaller square transparent sliding scale with a thin black line running through its centre and perpendicular to the main scale. On the back of the slide rule are a set of reference scales. About half way down the back, is an Addition and Subtraction calculator with vertical numbers and figures. These are housed in a long window and there are notches near the numbers for configuration purposes. On one side is a vertical scale measured from 0 ~ 27 cm. On the other side is a sloping scale measuring 0 ~ 10 inches. The case is made of green cardboard and paper with a lower, longer half and a top short bit that comprises the lid.
