Description
Astro Compass Mk II. Metal cylindrical instrument with several circular plates. Top plate has two scales in degrees on outer circumference, one in red reading local hour angle of star, the other in white reading true bearing. Has a moveable white platform which measures declination. Plate is rotated by dial on right hand side and angled by dial on left hand side. Plate below top has a scale of degrees running around outer edge. At 90, 180, 270, and 360 degrees are E, S, W, and N. Rectangular projection at South two levels. Compass slots into base which is cylindrical and there are three legs which hang over base. Compass is contained within a wooden case painted grey/green with green felt supports in interior.
