Description
Video is a brief history of the main record breaking flights of Cliff Tait, Hamilton aviator. Cliff had been variously a Tram driver, Electrician, and a cash register salesman before becoming an aviator and radio ham enthusiast.
Video clips include footage from news items, reports and documentaries.
Video includes the sale or movement of the last of 14 air trainers to Australia. Cliff Tait of New Zealand Aerospace services in Hamilton is a well known New Zealand long distance aviator who broke several records including the Solo round the world record and the Kingsford-Smith Trans-Tasman crossing.
The round the world record was in a Beechcraft Solander which co-incided with Beechcraft's 50th anniversary. The Christchurch to Sydney - Sydney to Christchurch flight was completed in a Fletcher FU 24 aircraft. The aircraft was resumed topdressing work after the flight.
Cliff was aged 75 when video when a reunion took place with the aircraft used on the round the world record breaking flight in 1969?.
