Blue wool waist-length jacket with patch pockets on either breast. The jacket fastens with 6 buttons that are hidden when fastened. The bottom button fastens in reverse direction than the others. The waistband extends at the opening to create a strap which then fits into a buckle. There are also 2 hook and eye closures at the collar. On the left chest is a fabric gold and red badge featuring an anchor, a crown and 2 wings. The sleeves are cuffed and have one-button closures. There are identical epaulettes on either shoulder with "A" surrounded by gold ribbon in a loop. At the top of each arm is a fabric badge with "New Zealand" on it. The interior is unlined except for the waistband and pockets which are lined with black fabric. At the back of the interior waistband are 3 button holes.
