Description
Tin box, rectangular with hinged lid painted yellow on exterior and gold on the interior. The exterior lid features the State Express logo (State Express in purple surrounded by decorative gold circle and a crown on top with the words "Semper Fidelis" underneath it). Above the logo is a purple banner saying: "State Express Cigarettes" and below it a similar banner saying: "210 Piccadilly London W.1." with "555" above it and "Made in England" below. The outside edges of the lid say in gold "25 State Express 555".
The interior of the lid has blue writing on gold. It features the royal crest in the top left corner and says "State Express 555 Cigarettes / Specially packed for Tasman Empire Airways Limited". The TEAL logo of a stylised bird is also there. The interior of the box is undecorated, but tucked inside is gold foil paper imprinted with "State Express Cigarettes" lined with translucent white paper.
The front of the box says in gold "Ardath Tobacco Co. Ltd. London" and on the bottom is punched "3962".
