Description
Navy blue, wool tunic with collar and lapel. There are 4 silver buttons down the front on the right jacket flap and 4 corresponding button holes on the left. There is a pleated breast pocket on either side with a scalloped edge cover flap. The cover flaps are secured with a silver button and 2 snaps. Above the left side breast pocket is an observers badge (an 'O' with a wing on the right side embroidered in white). There are 2 medals below the badge: DFC (purple, white) and the 1939-45 Star (navy blue, red, light blue). There is a pocket on each jacket flap, below the breast pockets, with a cover flap and securing button. All of the buttons on the tunic are silver with a crown flanked by the letters 'N' and 'Z', above a bird (either an albatross or an eagle). At each sleeve cuff, there are 2 black and blue stripes. There is a woollen belt attached to the waist, at the back of the tunic. At one end, is a silver belt buckle and a snap. At the back of the tunic, there is a slit which runs from the hem to the waist. Inside, this tunic is lined with a blue satin and there are interior pockets on either side.
