Maker and Role
Navy blue wool officer's cap with a flat top and a peak at the front. There is a band of black canvas around the base of the cap. At the front, is a strip of black leather secured with a button on each side. Also at the front is an RAF badge on a background of black wool. The badge consists of a red and gold embroidered crown, a gold pin of a bird (albatross or eagle) and 4 gold branches embroidered in a swag formation. The hat is lined on the inside with red cotton. Around the brim is a strip of brown leather. The inside of the top of the hat has tissue around the back and a piece of protective plastic. There is a piece of string tied in a bow at the back on the inside. The underside of the peak is lined with green, laminated plastic.
