There are 2 side pockets - one on either side with a cover flap and securing brass button. Each of the buttons on the tunic has a crown, flanked by the letters 'NZ' above a bird in flight. At the shoulders there is an embroidered badge at each side that says 'NEW ZEALAND'. On each sleeve cuff is a stripe (black/blue/black). At the back, there is a vertical slit running from hem to waist. At the waist, there is a belt that is attached at the back. At one end is a brass buckle; at the other, 3 sets of 2 holes. There is a snap to attach these 2 ends. On the inside, the tunic is lined with blue cotton and the sleeves are lined with cream-coloured cotton. There are 3 pockets on the inside, 2 on the right flap and one on the left. The top right pocket has a cover flap and black button for closure. There is a tab at the collar (maybe for hanging the tunic).
