Description
Air Force blue, long-sleeved, wool battle tunic with short lapel collar and double patch pockets with a central pleat on the pocket. The pocket on each breast is covered with a V-shaped flap. The exposed pocket button has an embossed eagle and crown on it. There are 5 buttons down the front of the tunic and these are concealed in button holes in the lining behind the front seam of the tunic. The waistband extends to form a front flap. The badge above the left breast pocket is an "Observer" badge. Below this is a strip of medals. From left, the coloured medals read: Observer, Aircrew Europe Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and NZ War Medal. At the top of the pocket flap is a gold metal winged eagle badge. The waistband has a metal hook which clips over a metal loop. There are 6 pleats in the waist at the back of the tunic. On each sleeve cuff is a crown shaped overlay of the wool worsted cloth.
