Description
Blue wool battle dress jacket with collar. At the front of the collar are 2 metal hooks and 2 metal loops. Down the front of the tunic are 5 black buttons and 5 corresponding button holes hidden on a piece of denim lining. On each shoulder is an epaulette with a stripe (black/white/black) on it. Each epaulette is fastened with a black button. On the shoulders are 2 badges that have "New Zealand" embroidered in white. There is a breast pocket on each side. The pockets are pleated and have a lined cover flap with a scalloped edge. The flaps are secured with a hidden black button. Above the left pocket is a pilot's badge. The badge is embroidered - it has the letters 'NZ' surrounded by a laurel wreath topped with a crown and flanked by wings. At the waist is a strap that fits into a metal buckle and wool belt loop on the right side. The sleeve cuffs are lined with denim and they have one hidden black button each. The tunic is pleated at the back, at the waist. On the inside, the collar, button seams and waist are lined with denim. At the waist, there is a second denim strip with 2 button holes in it. There are 2 denim patches at the shoulders where the epaulette buttons are sewn in. There is a denim pocket on the left side flap, with a cover and button hole.
