Description
Blue, woollen jacket with collar and lapels. There are 4 brass buttons on the right side flap of the jacket and there are 4 corresponding button holes on the left. There is a pleated breast pocket, cover flap held closed with a button on each side of the jacket. Above the left breast pocket is a badge. The badge, representing a rear gunner, depicts the letters AG inside a brown laurel wreath. To the right of the wreath is a wing. Below the right breast pocket is a horizontal slit opening for another pocket. There are 2 side pockets on either side of the jacket. Each has a cover flap held in place by a single button. Each of the buttons on the jacket has a crown on it flanked by the letters NZ, above a bird in flight. At the top of each sleeve, at the shoulder, is a badge with light blue embroidery that reads: NEW ZEALAND. On the cuff of each sleeve are 2 stripes, each stripe has 3 horizontal bands of colour: black, white, black. At the back of the jacket is a slit running from the bottom to the waist. Running along the waistline is a blue wool belt attached at the back. The belt has a strap with 3 sets of 2 holes and a brass buckle. There is a snap at each end to help hold the belt in place. Inside the jacket is a blue cotton lining. There is a breast pocket on either side. At the neck there is a tab sewn in, probably used to hang the jacket. The sleeves of the jacket are lined in cream-coloured cotton.
