2003.618.1 Letter - paper - typed with a purple ink from the General Manager of the Northern Assurance Company, No.1 Moorgate Street, London EC. The letter is dated 19th May 1905 and is addressed to Mr C K Mills, Water House, Shoreham, Kent. The letter congratulates Mr Mills for passing their preliminary examination. The General Manager comments that his spelling was below the Company standard. Mr Mills' name was placed on a list for when a vacancy was reached. An examination by the Medical Officer was to be arranged following notice of the vacancy.

2003.618.2 Envelope - addressed to Mr C K Mills, Waters House, Shoreham, Kent. The small envelope is white and the postmark is London May 19, 6 pm 1905. The postage stamp is a one penny red. There is a triangle stamp with the letters SE5 on the front of the envelope. On the back of the envelope is a round stamp with the word SEVEN MY 1905. The envelope has an embossed seal imprinted into the flap. It reads Northern Assurance Company. This envelope has been opened with a blade.
