Description
Radio - "La Gloria" - circa 1960. Rectangular wooden frame. Sides and base made of Sapele mahogany. The front speaker cover is a black fabric with a silver and gold glittery appearance. On the top left hand corner of the speaker cover is a red badge with the gold letters LG. The radio dial is presented in 2 colours: the top strip is a light grey and the bottom strip is dark grey. On the light strip are numbers in red: 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17. "La Gloria" is written on the left side of the strip and "Broadcast" on the right side. On the dark grey strip are printed in white, the station codes. 2 black plastic control buttons with mother of pearl fronts are on either side of the strip. The control on the left is the Volume Off and the right hand control button is the Tuning knob. The back of the radio is covered with a sheet of hardboard. There is an air space at the top and bottom of the hardboard to provide ventilation and heat release from the valves. Grey electrical cord protrudes from the rear of the radio at the bottom right.
