Description
World War I Jodhpurs with Braces (1977.137.4).
Machine and hand-stitched khaki cotton jodhpurs, centre front fly fastened by 6 buttons. Buttons also located at the waist, to which a set of braces are fastened. 2 hip pockets, one either side of front, one pocket on right buttock, are fastened with a button. Inner thigh/knee area of each leg is reinforced with leather patches. Side seam open on each leg for 135 mm, each fastened by a cotton lace with steel tips, threaded through stitching reinforced eyelets (6 on front, 6 on back of each opening).
Each pocket has an off-white plain weave cotton pocket bag. The waist is lined with a twill weave off-white cotton fabric. A twill weave cotton fabric binds the bottom hem of each leg, the fly and the waist top edge. Plain weave linen facing at this area.
