Description
Agricultural tractor - "Farmall B"; "McCormick International". Red. 4-cylinder, 2 centre-mounted steering wheels, extended rears. Steering and driver's position offset to the right. Power take-off pulley; towbar, crank start, battery absent. Serial No.213079. 1951 probably.
Brief History
The Farmall tractor was the first general-purpose tractor produced, and was first available in 1924. With the front two wheels close together, it allowed for great visibility and versatility. Model A and B Farmalls were manufactured between 1939 and 1947, and are similar in design. Both tractors were designed by ‘the father of industrial design’ Raymond Loewy. The tractors had the seat offset to one side, which allowed the driver to see the ground under the tractor. This feature was known as ‘Culti-Vision’ and remained a feature until 1979.

The Farmall B was not imported in large numbers into New Zealand - only 72 of them were imported here. That makes this particular example very rare in this country.
