Description
De Havilland DH89a Dragon Rapide = NZ558 ZK-AHS Twin-engine biplane. The wings and fuselage have a wood (including plywood) and metal (steel) structure that is covered with fabric, Ceconite. The fabric forms a skin that can be opened and accessed by zippers located on the underside of the fuselage. On the port side is the passenger door, with the baggage door on the starboard side. The skin can be removed for maintenance and repairs. There are 2 x 200 HP Gipsy Six engines, one on each side. There is a double-bladed propeller on each side, painted black with yellow tips. There is a door on either side of the fuselage. There are Perspex windows in the cockpit and 5 windows along the sides of the fuselage. The fuselage is painted white and grey with red and white horizontal stripes. There are 3 landing wheels, one under each engine and one under the tail. There are 6 passenger seats inside the main cabin.
