Description
Avometer, ex RAF, World War II. The meter consists of a small black bakelite box with a semi-circular scale on the front. A red pointer marks the start of this scale from the left. The scale is calibrated in amperes and volts as well as in ohms. On the left of the scale is a crown and the letters AM (Air Ministry) printed below the crown. On the left bottom corner is a knob marked "E" (for Earth) with 4 sockets above marked: 2V, 20V, 200V, 1000V. On the right hand side of the meter is a row of 5 holes marked: 20MA, 100MA, 200MA, 2A, 20A. In the centre is a rotary switch with 3 settings: On the left - Volts K=1; in the middle - Amps & Ohms; on the right - Volts K = 2. Two holes at the bottom can be seen - one on the left marked "Neg." and the one on the right marked 10000 Ω. The back of the meter is exposed and has no cover.
