Circa 1870
Christening gown: white lawn, hand pintucked, machine embroidered. High Victorian. Lace at neck. Central panel that runs from neck to hem featuring a vertical Broderie Anglaise stripe down centre and angled Broderie Anglaise panels and pin tucked panels, bordered with scalloped Broderie Anglaise trim which goes from back of neck, over shoulders and to hem. Shoulders have Broderie Anglaise panels and pin tucking. Sleeves are short with lace trim. Waist has braid trim and is gathered. Scalloped Broderie Anglaise trim at hem overlaying a plain hem. Pin tucking above. Closure is 2 drawstring ties and a small linen button.
