Bedford TK fire engine, registration number GK395, ex: Turangi Volunteer Fire. Red with a wooden ladder, two red lights on cab roof, enclosed cab style with a driver seat and front bench seat and a rear passenger bench seat. Portable extension ladder. Rear mounted pump. One single hose reel.
Brief History
From the 1960s New Zealand started to produce its own fire engines. Often these were built onto Bedford chassis, and the main producer was the Wormald Brothers. This type of vehicle was the standard fire engine used by the smaller brigades throughout the country in the 1960s and 1970s. This particular vehicle was operated by the Turangi Volunteer Fire Brigade.
