Description
Bedford Truck. The truck is an ex-Service Haulage truck. The truck has been repainted in the original livery. A wooden tray attached at the back of the cab. Red truck with yellow undercarriage and rims of the tyres. Two LUCAS headlamps, Painted on the side doors reads 'LICENSED BY H.M. CUSTOMS SERVICE HAULAGE LTD.' Painted down the side of the flatbed reads 'GENERAL HAULERS'. No. 68 Painted next to the proper right headlamp.
Brief History
The S Bedford was launched in Britain in 1950 and made its first appearance in New Zealand in 1952. This particular vehicle was one of two identical tow trucks used by the Auckland Transport Board to tow their fleet of trolleybuses and motor buses. It is fitted with specialist towing equipment for buses.

my father Ray Davies drove a truck like this one in the early 60's then was upgraded to a T K Bedford the firm was located in the Strand Parnell . Would love to see this truck sometime . Cliff Davies
