Description
Pacific Logging truck, powered by a 400 HP Cummins diesel, 15-speed Road Ranger gearbox. Top speed: 76 kph. Pay load 100 tonnes. 24" wheels.
Brief History
This truck was one of three imported from Canada by Kaingaroa Logging Company (KLC) in 1960. Imported fully built up, it has undergone several rebuilds during its 33 year service life. Significant modifications include being fitted with an up-rated engine, 15 speed Road Ranger gearbox and different trailer combination which resulted in this truck becoming the first logging rig to be able to haul 100 tons of logs out of the forest. It worked for much of its life with the KLC, finishing up as a yard hack. In 1988, it was sold to a private operator as a reserve vehicle and remained in this role until mid-April 1994. In its 33 year service life, it covered over 2 million kilometres and hauled over 2 million tonnes of logs.
