Description
Badge or medal with hole at top, through which a ring is threaded. The front of the badge is inscribed 'J. W. H. S.'. Inscribed on the back of the badge is "To J W H Scotland from admirers of his flying ability, Dunedin, March, 1914."

On 6 March 1914 Scotland made the first flight between Timaru and Christchurch.

This accession number was previously ascribed to "Case of photographs and badges of J W Scotland." This case was on display in the Pioneers of Aviation building. In December 2007, the contents were removed for security and conservation reasons. The badge has been accessioned at this number, and the remaining contents placed in the library and catalogued separately. See Other ID for their accession numbers.
