Description
Inflatable, vest-like life preserver jackets - Type B-4 No.31358 USN (commonly known as a "Mae West"). Stamped with date mark, though fuzzy - likely to be 1943. Yellow/khaki cotton with inflatable rubber bladders. A CO2 inflation bomb expanded the bladders or there was also a manual tube. This vest is a halter type - hang around neck. No dye sack is present on the object. There is an inscription of an address on the object in pencil - states 'H B Edmon..., 66 Oxford ..., Ashburton, Mid- Canterbury, New Zealand.'
